Our Vision: Vets Helping Vets
Our Mission: Provide air transportation, by commercially rated pilots, many military veterans themselves, and their aircraft, to any United States Military Veteran free of charge, for their convenience in obtaining, assisting with, or returning from, medical treatment, diagnosis, or for other compelling human needs. Our Policy: Support all veterans regardless of service branch, on an “As Needed Basis”, consistent with “Wings for Vets” resources. Due to the range of our aircraft, our primary focus is military veterans in all of the Appalachian Region (see inset Map). However, we support all veterans throughout the US, either by sharing connecting flights with other charity groups or providing commercial air tickets for those able to fly commercially. We currently support the Veterans Airlift Command, a veterans’ organization tasking group, Lifeline Pilots, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in research programs, and other veterans’ organization tasking. The members and families of Wings for Vets honor our Military Veterans. We want everyone to understand the sacrifices these men and women made to ensure our freedoms. All veterans need to be treated with honor. We should recognize their dedication to service, and show compassion to those who have suffered for that dedication. Wings for Vets, founded by Military Veterans, are helping other Military Veterans, regardless of branch of service, rank, race or gender. Vets Helping Vets is our creed, motto and way of life at Wings for Vets. Our goal is to help veterans and their families meld back into civilian life and careers. Many, because of service related disabilities, may not attain the dream of returning to the workforce. Transportation over long distance to receive medical treatment for them is problematic for various reasons. Long drives in a vehicle require frequent stops. Long waits at airport security lines are cumbersome for everyone, but imagine doing it with any number of disabilities. Wings for Vets provides a service that eliminates or eases some of the issues our veterans have to endure. We are dedicated to help these veterans, who have given so much to their country, and the people of this nation. Whether one was called upon or volunteered, all served at the pointy end of the spear to protect every man, woman and child of this great country. Many were injured doing so. Help us to help them, by donating what you can to ensure their service to our nation is not forgotten.
