Our Veteran's Testimonials
Our family was honored by Wings for Vets who volunteered to fly my brother James Smith, who was injured in Iraq, his service dog Steel, and myself to Pittsburgh for medical treatment. Serving as an Army infantryman in Iraq, James was wounded in two separate explosive attacks that left him with multiple injuries, including hearing and vision loss, brain and spine injuries, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Using a service dog and a cane to walk, navigating the long, crowded corridors in airports and carrying medical equipment all make it harder to get through security and onto the plane. Public transportation is also cramped, which can be painful for a disabled veteran. Wings for Vets turned our 9-hour drive to Pittsburgh into a short two-hour flight from the small local airport near our home. The time saved makes caring for my brother much easier. Without the support of Wings for Vets, my brother's medical treatments would be restricted by conventional travel, and we wouldn't even consider medical treatments out of state. Kindly, Jennifer

Made it to Pittsburgh for some appointments. I have to give a big shout out to Wings for Vets based out of Beaver County, PA for picking me up and flying me to my appointment. A private plane, accommodating, no security and very humble pilots. The founder of the organization, Corkey Romeo was my pilot. I can't thank them enough for what they do. The organization is operated by prior military pilots, many of whom worked for the airlines after their service. Corkey, the head of it all, was a military pilot towards the end of Vietnam and is very, very humble. The co-pilot I flew with is Tom Hupp. He was a fighter pilot around the same time and both are amazing people. It's a small charitable organization helping others. SGT Dan Wagner
Thank you Corkey. You both are beautiful people and we are so glad God allowed our paths to cross. I already told the founder of Project Sanctuary all about your organization and she will be in touch. I will also forward you her information so you can reach out to her. The information for the contact at Operation Mend that would also be another great collaboration. From our hearts to yours, thank you both for all that you have done for us today by allowing us to be at this very needed therapeutic retreat. It wouldn't have been possible without your big heart and awesome organization. We love you and thank you.
I really appreciate Wings4Vets. Their organization is truly a Godsend. Captains Corkey and Tom, both Vietnam era veterans, were very friendly and gracious hosts. They flew me from Charlotte, NC up to Syracuse, NY for a memorial service. The flight was very smooth despite predicted weather forecast, and we all arrived safely at the destination. My experience was outstanding. I give high praise for this organization, and the pilots!
